Mr. RC Nandrajog, ED, TRF Ltd speaking at the inauguration ceremony of cataract camp, along with Mrs Jyoti Dutta, AGM-CS, Tata Motors, Mr H Kharkar, COO, TRF Ltd and Mrs Kavita Majumdar, Secretary, TRF Ladies Association.
Cataract is among the leading cause of preventable blindness in India. The removal of cataract immediately improves the quality of life of the individual as vision is restored. The TRF Ladies Association has, therefore, sought to improve the quality of life of some of those who lack the economic means to undergo this simple medical procedure. Their focus is on members of the communities residing in the vicinity of TRF Nagar who suffer from Cataract. At one such camp conducted on December 2, 2008, 135 patients were screened and registered to be operated on. While lauding the effort undertaken by the ladies, both, Mr R C Nandrajog, Executive Director and Mr Hemant Kharkar, COO of the Company said the noble task undertaken by the Ladies Association would immediately bring more meaning to the lives of the beneficiaries.
“The strong bond that the TRF Ladies Association and the trust that Parivar Kalyan Sansthan enjoy have ensured that the reach of TRF’s community programmes be further extended and will now benefit an even larger population”, Mrs Kavita Majumdar, Secretary TRF Ladies Association told the dignitaries and other guests present on the occasion. She also took the opportunity to highlight the progress made by the association in its literacy programme, “Akshar” and women empowerment initiative, “Astitva”.
