Volunteerism by employees of TRF and it associates witnessed a surge with the successful organization of the first of the biannual blood donation camp, ‘Navjeevan’ by the TRF Ladies Association, in association with Voluntary Blood Donors’ Association(VBDA). Today, as many as 153 donors voluntarily gave blood to the Jamshedpur Blood Bank, which is of immense value to them as the requirement for blood during the summer season increases.
In addition to the donors, the employees of the company, especially the medical department, members of the TRF Ladies Association (TRFLA) collaborated and contributed voluntarily to make ‘Navjeevan’ successful. The TRFLA which is also the corporate social responsibility arm of the Company, conducts many activities such as running a literacy school for the needy and underprivileged children, a women empowerment cell, rain water harvesting for the community, to name a few has been consistently recognized by the Voluntary Blood Donors.
This year, at a function hosted by VBDA on April 1, TRFLA was conferred the ‘Best Performance for Blood Donation’ award.The ‘Navjeevan’ camp was formally inaugurated by Mrs S Rajoria, Chairperson, TRFLA, Mr Sandeep Tanwar, TRF and Mr Rakeshwar Pandey. The inaugural function was attended by senior executives of the Company, members of the TRFLA and committee members of the TRF Labour Union. During the programme it was decided that extra blood coupons with the Company would be given to needy patients of Meherbai Tata Memorial Hospital for cancer. During the inauguration, Mrs Rajoria welcomed the guests and appealed to them to donate blood and otivate donors, Mr Rakeshwar Pandey lauded the wide range of corporate social responsibility work being managed by TRFLA and Mr Sandeep Tanwar explained the benefits of donating blood.
Under his mentorship, Tata Projects has been voted consecutively for the last 5 years as `India’s Most Admired’ and `Fastest Growing Construction Company’ by `Construction World’ journal. Mr Deshpande was voted as the Infrastructure Person of the Year for 2016-17. This year, Tata Projects also featured amongst `Economic Times Best Infrastructure Brands’. The company was also awarded by EPC World for `Outstanding Contribution in Power T&D’ & `Infrastructure’. `Dun & Bradstreet’ too has listed Tata Projects amongst Top 10 Infra Companies in 2016.
On personal side, Mr Deshpande is an avid trekker and nature lover.
