AKSHAR means a letter in Hindi, symbolizing the core of communication. Representing the power of learning, ‘Akshar’, is a school run by TRF Ladies Association and is dedicated to the children of the poor and the downtrodden settled along the periphery of TRF Nagar.

Started about 15 years ago, under the guidance of Mrs. S. Hassan, with a modest 15 students; Akshar endeavours to empower a community through the strength of literacy. Over these years, the school has grown, accommodating 45 students in Nursery and LKG and a staff strength of two.

Apart from providing basic education, the management also funds the required school-bags, books, pen, pencils, crayons, uniforms, sweaters as well as providing a mid-day meal for all the children attending the school. The meals ensure a healthy variety that is enjoyable and nutritious (khichdi, idli, dal, vegetables, roti etc.). The TRF doctors provide free medical and health check-ups for all the children. The school also creates opportunities for these children to explore their talent, by organizing Annual Cultural programmes and celebrating all festivals with equal fervour. Meritorious students are sponsored for further education.

The school continues to be managed by the TRF Ladies Association, which whole-heartedly promotes the company’s commitment to serve the community in which it exists.
