Shadeed Iron & Steel Co Project, Oman
Erection Work on Conveyor Belt BC
TRF Ltd ventured overseas with its first project; Shadeed Iron & Steel (SIS), Sohar, Oman, with a contract for the supply of equipment. Shadeed Iron & Steel Co LLC, founded in 2005 by its parent company, Al Ghaith Holdings PJSC of Abu Dhabi is the first integrated steel plant in the Sultanate of Oman.
The project comprises material and product handling systems, which include complete electrical and automation systems. The basic method of functioning of the material handling system would be that the raw material is received from 2 ship-unloaders at 3600 TPH and stacked using a stacker-reclaimer. Depending thereof on the daily requirement, the material would be reclaimed at 800 TPH and stored in day bins.
A mobile hopper and fixed hoppers would allow feeding of material to the conveyor system using front loaders as well. From the day-bins, the material would be screened to a size between 6 & 50 mm and then taken to the DRI plant where it would be processed and converted to HBI (hot briquetted iron) and stacked using a stacker. The company is also putting into place, a lime handling system, which would be used for processing the raw material. Whereas the date of commencement of the contract is June 15, 2007, the project schedule is of 17 months and is expected to be commissioned by October 2008. The detailed engineering work is soon to be completed.
