TRF Limited

Export Orders from Doosan HIC, South Korea

Adding another feather to its cap, TRF Ltd received its first direct order from DOOSAN Heavy Industries & Construction, South Korea, for a Reversible stacker-reclaimer for their project Cirebon in Indonesia. This order comes as a major breakthrough for TRF, as it will facilitate it’s dealings with an Asian EPC Giant, while also opening up the Asian market for the company to achieve its goal of becoming the largest supplier of yard machines in the world. More than the order value, the largest for TRF, it is the glory of winning this contract against stiff competition, undertaking and also meeting the stringent overseas order customer compliance standards.

TRF has, on earlier occasions supplied its products to overseas projects, such as, Tata Steel KZN, the order was placed upon it by METCO. METCO had bought the stacker from TRF and supplied it to Tata Steel KZN.

The project is located at Coal Terminal Cirebon, Indonesia, and the stacker reclaimer supplied by TRF is for a Power Plant for 600 MW, where DOOSAN is the EPC contractor. Sporting a capacity of 1500 TPH of stacking and reclaiming, 50 mm for coal handling and boom length of 41 mtrs, TRF has supplied the same stacker to Tata Power, as delivered to DOOSAN. Mr G N Chakraborty, AGM, PYE was instrumental in convincing DOOSAN to accept the same machine. Apart from the stacker matching the specification required by DOOSAN coupled with the fact that no other company was willing to supply a newly designed stacker within a period of 14 months, played a major role in TRF bagging this order. What further strengthened the company’s case was that it had several references of “A Reversible Stacker Reclaimer”, having delivered similar ones to Tata Power, GMDC, and is also building one for BGR at Vijayawada and Kakativa.

Moreover, TRF agreed to deliver by February 2009 by balancing their engineering load to complete the work on schedule. It has also consented to frequent reviews of the progress at the project site, and has already submitted the first report.

There are many “firsts” in this project; the stacker is equipped with a fire-fighting system. While, fibre optic cables for the power and control during the travel period have been used, the equipment will be despatched after it is mounted with electrics assembled at the TRF Works.
