TRF is proud of Anoop Sarkar’s daughter Ankita, who has been conferred with Certificate of Appreciation for presenting a paper on, “The Missing Girl Child: Sex Determination Continues Unabated”. This certificate was conferred on her at the SASH 2018: National Conference on Safe and Sustainable Hospitals held at Hyderabad, recently. Ankita is the elder daughter of Anoop Sarkar, (Manager, Project Planning & Monitoring Department) and Shipra Sarkar. Ankita’s paper highlighted the current status of foeticides in India and its’ likely impact on the economy. According to her, “In India, female foetal sex determination and sex selective abortion has grown into a thousand crore industry”.
While Ankita has shown the courage to draw the attention to “India’s Ticking Bomb”, a subject that is still considered highly sensitive in the society, we hope that many more Ankitas will raise their voice against the evil practice of child sex determination and help the country to become a true social and economic power.
