Today, thermal power sector companies are facing generation challenges due to lack of coal supply from the mines. Also, Government of India’s focus on making the country self-reliant in power generation and its plans to add power generation capacity of 66,600 MW under the 12th Five Year Plan will have significant impact on the speed of coal mining. To address this market demand, TRF has developed semi-mobile, skid mounted sizers for crushing and handling coal. All components used in this equipment have been developed / procured indigenously.
The sizer crushes the coal lumps in three stages. At first, the large rotor, teeth provided in the sizer grips the material at multi points. This induces stress at local points leading to fracture along the flaw lines which in turn enables crushing of coal lumps at lower energy. The secondary breaking takes places where three-point loading is created between the top face of tooth on one rotor and the top of two opposite teeth on the other rotor. This once again induces tensile stress in the lumps.
The benefit at this stage is that tensile strength is lower than comprehensive strength and this reduces power required for crusher. In the third and final stage, the breaker bar takes care of remaining oversized lump.
The TRF designed coal sizer has fully fabricated housing, stress relieved and close tolerance. These are fully doweled assembled and bore, house with carburized and ground gears in case of single drive.
The company is capable of designing machine with both single and double drive.
